The purpose as expressed in this mission statement is to prevent and reduce homeless through advocacy, housing, job training, and employment, and through working in partnership with the community.
LFO will be providing services to the homeless and will operate as a one-stop service center. It is designed to support workforce development, as it assists homeless family members of the community in the transition to independence and contributory citizenship. We will target the unemployed, homeless, and low-income prioritizing family members, veterans, and ex-offenders, and provide up to twenty-four months of housing with supportive services. We will also be building marketable job skills tailored to identify the needs of employers through on-site vocational training and job placement services. Some fields we provide training for are:
Correlated homeless assistance programs provided by LFO include a drop-in day center and daily feeding services for homeless and low-income individuals. The drop-in center and feeding components will provide outreach services to more than an estimated 1,500 unduplicated homeless each year, and act as recruitment mechanisms for the LFO's housing and employment training programs. According to our estimation, about 60% of people enrolled in housing and/or training services at LeGrand Family Organization initially learned of the services through their participation in feeding or drop-in activities. The drop-in day center provides daytime relief and limited case management services to street-homeless individuals at an average rate of fifteen people per day.
